Universal Studios Hollywood Honors Heavy Metal Icon Ozzy Osbourne

Black Sabbath singer's 13 solo albums are the focus of theme park's Halloween Horror Nights' epic new 'Ozzy Osbourne: Prince of Darkness' haunted house.

If you're even a moderate fan of rock and roll, then you already know there's no artist more admired than former Beverly Hills resident Ozzy Osbourne. He isn’t just the Godfather of Heavy Metal—he's one of the most influential and revered entertainers ever. 

And now, Universal Studios Hollywood has announced it is honoring the former Black Sabbath frontman at its popular Halloween Horror Nights this fall. The annual event will include major new attractions focused on Ozzy and his solo career's 13 albums, which have dominated rock radio for decades, so seeing his legacy celebrated in such an epic way in SoCal is incredibly exciting.

“We are honored to collaborate with the Osbourne family to create a unique haunted house that celebrates the legacy of Ozzy Osbourne,” says Mike Aiello, senior director of entertainment at Universal Orlando, which is also hosting a Halloween Horror Nights haunted house dedicated to Ozzy. 

“It was important for us to create an authentic experience that brings Ozzy’s creativity and personality to life in an eerily immersive new way. Fans will discover so many meaningful details as they navigate memorable dark and twisted moments inspired by his iconic musical career.”

If you’ve been lucky enough to attend past years’ Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood, then you know that the annual showcase is one of the greatest fall events in all of SoCal.

Every autumn, Universal transforms itself into an unforgettable spectacle of movie-quality scares, jaw-dropping production design, and immersive storytelling. It’s terrifying, ridiculously fun, and one of those experiences that reminds you why L.A. is the entertainment capital of the world.

What makes it even cooler is that Halloween Horror Nights has never been afraid to embrace rock and heavy metal. Over the years, the event has incorporated legendary artists like Rob Zombie and Black Sabbath, and now Universal is once again giving heavy metal music the spotlight by honoring the one and only Ozzy.

The all-original “Ozzy Osbourne: Prince of Darkness” haunted house takes fans on a journey through more than 45 years of Ozzy’s remarkable solo career. Fans will face scary scenarios inspired by classic albums like Blizzard of Ozz, Diary of a Madman, Bark at the Moon, No More Tears, Scream, and Ordinary Man.

The experience begins in Ozzy’s childhood home in Birmingham, England, before sending guests on a nightmarish ride aboard the Crazy Train into the creepy “Osbourne Asylum.” Along the way, visitors will come face-to-face with some of Ozzy’s most iconic personas, from the “Madman” to the legendary “Prince of Darkness” himself.

“Ozzy never stopped pushing boundaries, and he loved anything that gave fans a new way to experience his music and the worlds he created,” says his widow Sharon Osbourne.

"Halloween Horror Nights has done an incredible job bringing that spirit to life," adds son Jack Osbourne. "Walking through these haunted houses, you'll recognize so many moments inspired by his music and imagination. It’s a wonderful tribute to Ozzy, and we hope fans have as much fun experiencing it as he would have had seeing it come together."

It’s wonderful to see Universal honoring one of rock’s greatest legends in such a creative, immersive, and larger-than-life way. Ozzy’s music, imagery, and influence have always been cinematic, so Halloween Horror Nights feels like the perfect stage for celebrating everything that made him an icon.
